Areas of focus

Expertise across the spine.

From an acute injury to years of back pain, Dr. Dare evaluates the whole picture before recommending treatment, and starts with the least invasive option that can work.

Spinal trauma

Fractures, dislocations and spinal cord injuries at every level of the spine, managed both non-surgically and surgically.

Minimally invasive spine surgery

Small incisions, guided by fluoroscopy, the operating microscope and endoscopy, so many patients go home the same day.

Neck and back conditions

Herniated discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica, degenerative disc disease and spondylolisthesis.

Spine and skull base tumors

Fellowship trained in neurosurgical oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Typical differences. Your own experience depends on the condition and procedure.

Minimally invasive spine surgery

Less disruption, faster recovery.

Minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS) reaches the problem through small incisions instead of a long open exposure.

Because less muscle and tissue is disturbed, operating time is shorter and many procedures can be done as outpatient surgery.

  • Smaller incisions and less tissue trauma
  • Many procedures performed on an outpatient basis
  • Earlier mobilization and shorter hospital stays
  • Fewer complications for appropriate candidates

Not every condition is suited to MISS. Dr. Dare will explain all of your options, including non-surgical care.
